P V Radhakrishna Pillai, a prominent Non-resident Indian or NRIborn at Mavelikara, in Alappuzha district Kerala living in Bahrain being awarded the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman by President Pratibha Patil in January 2012. This was so well received by the Indian community that a grand reception, held in his honour on February 10, was attended by over 2000 Indians. He held the positions of President, Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam, Chairman The Indian School Bahrain 2002-2008, President Surya Bahrain.
